Using Alternate Parts Feature in CMPRO
The Alternate Parts feature in CMPRO allows approved alternate parts to be entered at the engineering level during the development of a Parts List. These approved alternates, when properly linked to the parts in the Production Baseline, carry forward to the production module (work orders) used for buying and building the items. During production planning, these alternates are visible as part of the Work Order Build or Buy process and can be selected in place of, or along with, the primary part that was included in the original engineering design.
Details
- Alternate parts are initially established from the Parts Listscreen. The Alternates link in the Part Details section of the right pane can be chosen to enter alternate parts for the part currently displayed.
- From the Alternate Parts screen, a part can be chosen from the list of items available (these are items that are already in Part Master), or manually entered.
- Built Product Baselines that contain parts with alternates will display those alternates in the Alternate Parts section of the Product Baseline Item Detail screen.
- When both Buy or Build Work Orders are created directly from the Product Baseline, Production Planning (WO), alternate parts are automatically available for selection. This is because the necessary linking has already been accomplished.
